It is so beautiful to fish in the archipelago in the midst of the summer, but it can also be a pain. This trip in the north parts of Värmdö was a pain as we saw plenty of fish, but they did not seem to be in the mood at all. As we praised the fine nature and the wonderful weather, the pikes praised our lures for looking so good, but they did not go for a bite… One Betssonite was lucky enough to catch this small friend. We’ll be back…

On the 23rd of May it was time for the long awaited Fishsson Spring Bonanza. We did not know if we could hit any new records, so just in case we decided to hit a new record already in the morning by meeting at 05:00. That was very very early, but we all made it.

We went for the spring pikes and the conditions looked quite good, with some fog in the morning and winds around 5 m/s. Fishing in Värmdö for 6 hours, from two boats, as the weather got better and better, we ended up with 10 pikes. A decent day for the Fishsson team.

It should not be -4 centigrade on the 9th of November! But it was…. A beautiful day, but the ice was already established on some of the planned fishing waters, which made things complicated. Anyway, we found some nice spots and did some good fishing. But the strange thing was that the only fish we saw that day came up on the very first attempt – by Markus…

Torsk på torsk means ”hooked on cod”. The cod has been gone in the Stockholm archipelago since the 90:s, due to too heavy fishing by the commercial fishing fleet and lack of bottoms with enough oxygen for the fish to reproduce. However, it seems that things are moving in the right direction and as fishing quotas has been brought down and projects to improve the environment has been initiated, rumors said that the cod is slowly making it back to the Stockholm archipelago.

Fishsson went out to find out if this was the case. And it was! Fishing with heavy jigs we caught 3 cods. 2 were released and one was later on released in the frying pan, as it was the first cod to be caught in the Fishsson era of cod fishing in Stockholm. It was prepared with fresh shrimp, eggs, horseradish and browned butter.

May was called the flower month long time ago and it is supposed to be a spring month. But not this day. 1 degree plus and rain mixed with snow.

We went for trout outside Åkersberga, and Jonas managed to catch one small one. Rough day, but it was nice to see that trout come up.

On the 26th of May 2010 it was time for the first real fishing event organized by Fishsson!

As a guest fisherman we had Lasse Dilschman, former CEO of Ladbrokes Scandinavia. Early morning we met up in the center of Stockholm where Lasse picked us up in his Anytec 750. Three eager Fishssoner’s namely Alex Nyman, Peder Lindfors and Pontus Lindwall were all set to go. Fredrik Ruden was to be picked up at Nacka Strand. 40 minutes and a nice boat trip later we arrived at Pontus summer house in Värmdö where we picked up another boat.

Being from the gaming industry, we made a lottery of who goes with which boat. Pontus and Peder went with Pontus boat and Alex, Fredrik and Lasse in Lasses boat. As the water was still cold, most participants suggested that we should go inwards in the archipelago to find warmer waters. Said and done, fishing commenced in Prästviken, Värmdö. All in all we got four pikes, Alex had two, Lasse one and Peder one. Pontus and Fredrik had less luck (or skills).

After 4 hours of fishing and a nice “fika-pause” we headed back to Stockholm, and arrived to the office after lunch.  Already looking forward to the next occasion!

Autumn is pike season. As is every time of the year. This beautiful day Fishsson decided to leave the shallow bays where we usually fish, and instead we went further out in the archipelago. It seems it is a little bit harder to catch nice fish in the outer parts of the archipelago – so more of a challenge! Pontus, Peder, Jonas and Fredrik tested new waters and caught 5 pikes which were all released. Fredrik won the competition of biggest fish.

This Fishsson trip was actually conducted before the official inauguration of Fishsson. But as it was done with Fishsson members, and as the outcome inspired us to form Fishsson, it deserves a place in the Fishsson history.

It was a cold December day in 2006, when Jonas, Pontus and Peder went out pike fishing. The temperature was quite mild for this time a year at 9 degrees centigrade, but the fishing was slow, until Jonas put on a very old wobbler, which he got from his father. With that wobbler he managed to land the grand Madame of Värmdö at 12,5 kg (which was of course released).
